A study published in the esteemed journal Pediatrics describes the benefits and safety of Enfamil® Human Milk Fortifier Acidified Liquid over powdered fortifiers. The study demonstrated that premature infants given this new Mead Johnson product achieved significantly higher growth than infants given powdered fortifiers, and that Mead Johnson’s ultra-concentrated liquid fortifier is well tolerated by premature infants.
A team of talented Mead Johnson scientists has created the first and only ultra-concentrated liquid human milk fortifier marketed in the United States that offers nearly 20 percent more protein than current powdered fortifiers. Further, it is the only product that meets all safety and preparation guidelines from the Academy of Nutrition and Diabetics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as new preterm nutrition guidelines from the European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
The study authors were comprised of talented Mead Johnson scientists — Kelly R. Walsh, PhD, RD: Department of Nutrition Science, Research and Development, and Carol Lynn Berseth, MD: Clinical Research, Department of Medical Affairs – and two leading neonatal experts: Fernando Moya, MD: Coastal Carolina Neonatology, and Paula M. Sisk, PhD: Department of Pediatrics, Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
